Olivia Barclay, Q.H.P.

Olivia Barclay is a horary astrologer with well over 30 years experience of the subject. She has taught four principals of other horary courses which have started up in recent years. These four studied and then taught the Qualifying Horary Diploma Course and then set up in competition. Also, most periodicals devoted to horary astrology are produced by former students of the course, The Horary Practitioner, The Traditional Astrologer, The Astrologer's Apprentice, etc.

Ms Barclay was born in Essex near London U.K. on December 12th 1919 with Taurus 3 degrees on the MC. She trained and earned her living in design and painting. She was married for 25 years and has one daughter.

In 1980 Ms Barclay obtained a rare original 1647 edition of William Lilly's 'Christian Astrology'. At the time there were perhaps 20 originals still extant - mostly in museums. From this edition Regulus published 2,000 volumes, now studied worldwide.

In order to explain the importance of Lilly's 870 page masterpiece, and the traditional methods of astrology in which he instructs us, Ms Barclay wrote articles published in several countries; she devised her correspondence course and wrote a book 'Horary Astrology Rediscovered' published by Schiffer, Whitford Press U.S.A., which was given an award by the Professional Astrologers of America Inc. She also lectured widely in several European countries and in North America as well as in England.

She is now assisted with the course by four first class tutors including Hideaki Kokubu in Japan, Esther Gould and Russell Parkinson BSc in England and Valli Powers in Honolulu. The course includes the study of other great astrologers of the past, as well as Lilly. It is the orginal basic course which studies Lilly, leading to a professional standard of horary and a deeper understanding of all astrology.

The above was written by Olivia Barclay herself in 1998. She passed away on April 1, 2001.
